Wedding photography is not all created equal. While modern photography technologies would seem to level the playing field as far as skill behind a camera is concerned, that couldn’t be further from the truth! There are so many more things to consider these days than in recent history, such as the plethora of lighting techniques and endless editing options. In this article, I’ll be laying out my style and values clearly to you so that you can be sure you’re hiring the right match!
It is important for me when editing to consider the couple in front of me. It wouldn’t make sense for me to put a heavy vintage filter on a boho-looking wedding; neither would it make sense for me to only provide crisp and clean images for a couple who wants their gallery to feel like old-time film. That being said, I make sure to always hit these categories in my edits:
Natural Edits
I always provide timeless, natural, clean, and colorful images that don’t look over-edited for each portion of the wedding day. Why? While certain editing trends might be very aesthetic, they can sometimes become outdated. I want to ensure that you will still love your images even 40 years from now.
Couple-Specific Edits
I provide more detailed editing work for couples shots (like deleting blemishes and bra straps). These edits are artistically catered to the “vibe” of the day. Some might be more moody, while others might be more airy-- this all depends on the environment and the couple. Rest assured, you’ll be getting unique-to-you images!
Crownhart Edits
I always like to include a handful of images that truly match my brand, which is elegant, ethereal, and timeless with a hint of Hollywood starlet. This style is best met when paired with vintage fashion elements, but I can accomplish a modern twist on it regardless.
At the end of the day, what matters is that you are happy with your wedding day gallery and consider it a prized heirloom to pass on for generations.
